Why waterproof a flat concrete roof?

Universal Roofing often has to explain the reason flat, concrete slab roofs need waterproofing? Waterproofing additives in the concrete composition, still do not create a water-tight seal. Slab roofs expand and contract during hot and cold conditions. This to water leaks on the perimeter of the concrete slab. Due to this, Universal Roofing is often called out by customers who wish to have leaks repaired on their concrete slab roofs and balconies.

Universal Roofing manufactures our waterproofing solutions in house. Our high build, hybrid polymer waterproofing system in 2 variants namely Eco-flexx (grey) and Uni-flexx (white). Widely used over the last 15 – 20 years. Tried and tested different roof types and roof substrates Eco-flexx (grey) and Uni-flexx (white) have been very successful in creating reliable waterproofing solutions.

These include concrete slab roofs, pitched cement tiled roofs, clay-tiled roofs, boarded bitumen roofs, corrugated, and IBR steel roofs.

All of these tests have yielded superior results.

Universal Roofing is committed to the environment and our Eco-flexx (grey) and Uni-flexx (white) waterproofing systems are cold-applied, in line with international standards, that are moving away from oil-based systems.

Although we suggest using our innovative waterproofing system on new projects. As a result of the torch-on bitumen waterproofing systems still being widely used, we do conduct routine maintenance of bitumen waterproofing.

We also offer new torch-on applications at the customer’s request.
